possible by the body of Christ in the Fox Valley coming together in unity! ______________________ Celebrate Our Children Saturday, August 14, 2010 12:00pm - 4pm McCarty Park, 400 E. Galena Aurora IL 60505 This is an excellent kid's festival, now in it's 17th year - made possible by volunteers from many Aurora-area churches and non-profits, along with partnership with the City of Aurora. There will be a stage with music, dance, in illusionist, and much more. A petting zoo, pony rides, fun inflatables, face paininting, splashing in the park's water feature. This is a great day to celebrate God's love for kids and their parents! Galena Aurora IL 60505 This is a city-wide worship gathering, now in it's fourth year. Believers from many local Auurora churches come together for two hours of worship and prayer. Music is led by a community gospel choir, and a Latino-soul-rocking praise band. Prayer for our city is led by area pastors. This event is part of the answer to Jesus' prayer in John 17 - that His people would be one, as He and the Father are one. Randall Road, Aurora, IL map contact Pastor Randy Schoof - 630-859-0600 For ten years, every time that there are five Sundays in a month, area believers from many local churches come together for a time of celebrating through worship music, water baptisms, and communion. It's a great time of praising God with others from the larger body of Christ! ______________________ Who's my Neighbor? Tuesday August 21 Last year 70 friends of Riverwoods participated in “Who’s my Neighbor?” as a way to learn more about the challenging realities facing our families here in the Fox River Valley. I know that all of our lives were changed by the experience – it was incredible! "Who's my Neighbor?" is a one-afternoon opportunity to personally interact with some of the families in the housing communities that Riverwoods serves throughout the year. On Tuesday, August 31st, we will be meeting at Riverwoods at 3 pm for a brief orientation and training and then heading out in teams to eight different housing communities. We will be meeting individually with families in their apartments to register kids for our weekly fall programs. This is a great opportunity to learn firsthand about the realities of suburban poverty. There is no cost to attend; adults 21 and older are welcome to participate.
